Tia Coleman, MS, P-LPC

PROVISIONALLY-LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Ms. Coleman is a native Mississippian who knew she wanted to be a counselor from an early age.  She completed her undergraduate education at Jackson State University, where she earned a B.S. in psychology, and was a member of several mental health advocacy and leadership organizations – such as Psychology at Work, Peer Educators, and Transfer Ambassadors.

She attended Walden University for her graduate training, where she earned an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counselling, and was inducted into the Golden Key Honor Society and the Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Honor Society.  During her graduate training, Ms. Coleman worked with diverse populations in regards to ages and demographic factors, as well as psychopathology and mental health needs; her training focused on interventions rooted in an empathic, evidence-based approach, with specific focuses in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

In addition to her academic and clinical work, Ms. Coleman also currently serves as an advisor for NAMI’s Open Up Mississippi, where she provides educational and consultative services to a variety of community leaders and member partners regarding mental health issues.  In this role, Ms. Coleman promotes efforts to destigmatize mental health issues and treatment needs for individuals ages 14 to 26.

 As a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (P-LPC) in Mississippi, Ms. Coleman is currently accepting new clients.  She is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment where individuals can openly explore their issues, thoughts and emotions on their journey toward mental well-being.
