Bret D. Patterson, LPC, NCC

LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Bret Patterson is a native Mississippian. He began his career in healthcare as an EMT in Jackson before completing the paramedic program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He spent the next twenty years working as a paramedic and clinical educator for various agencies in and around Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Anthropology from the University of North Texas with an emphasis in public health and health disparities. He attended multiple trainings for Critical Incident Stress Management which led him to seriously consider a career in the mental health field.  He obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University before returning to Mississippi.  He has worked in community-based mental health, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties.

He has experience working with various populations, including children and adolescents, young adults with first-episode psychosis, and adults with serious mental illness, providing care in group and individual sessions.  His eclectic approach includes elements of Adlerian, Bowenian Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Theories.  He has received additional training in grief therapy and training to provide counseling services to members of the military and their families. He is currently collaborating with various agencies to develop mental health resources for first responders and to address men’s mental health issues.

Bret is licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) in MS and provides individual therapy to adults and adolescents via telehealth or in person.  He offers some evening and weekend services.  He is currently accepting new clients.
